I consider it such a privilege to be able to write to you. I was 12 yrs old when I saw you in the 1972 Olympics. I began gymnastics as a result and was in the sport for 4 yrs. You were always my idol. I had your pictures all over my bedroom wall & read everything I could about you. I saw you at the Boston Garden and sent a bottle of ketchup to you knowing how much you liked it. Not sure you ever received it. Anyway, I never thought I would see the day you would be living in the US and I could actually write to you. So glad you are here!!I have many fond memories of you and spent many hours doing gymnastics as a result of you!!

I was a keen gymnast aged 9 when I saw you for the first time, competing at the Munich Olympics. After seeing you and Ludmila Tourischeva perform,I was addicted to watching gymnastics and went to watch the Russian display team at Wembly Arena every time! I still love gymnastics and have coached on and off over the years; I will always love the sport and remember such great gymnasts as yourself who have inspired so many to follow in your footsteps.

  17. Olga, you're a true pioneer and an amazing athlete. You paved the way for so many girls and young women to be able to push the boundaries and create new moves. Thank you for being an inspiration.
I wish people would accept gymnastics as a real athletic sport and not expect women to do silly little dance moves on the beam and the floor, though, and to show their legs. I wish you were around to pave the way for that!!

  18. Yeimear says:

I think you were a wonderful gymnast, much better than Turisheva any day or Comaneci for that matter. Nadia copied other peoples somersaults but you were so original. Just curious, did you grow up speaking Belarussian or Russian with your family?

  19. Oksana McFall, scottsdale resident says:

    Dear Olga,
My name is Oksana, I came to the USA 8 years ago from Ukraine. I have a 7 year old daughter who is doing competitive gymnastics for 3 years now. After talking to Devon Potter, who you trained while coaching in Scottsdale Gymnastics, I found out that you live in Scottsdale, AZ as well. I searched the internet and came across your website. Could you be so kind to advice of what gymnastics school shall I send my daughter in order to succeed in gymnastics. I am looking for a strict environment and hard work ethics. It seems like coaches that I run across do not have the skills to provide this environment. We have been in Scottsdale Gymnastics for 2 years now, we also tried Xtreem gymnastics and Arizona Sunrays. I would highly appreciate your help and advice. My daughter is a hard worker and is in love with gymnastics. Again, thanks for your help, and for your time to reply.
    Best regards,
    Oksana.
